The AOC area is an enclave within the appellation Anjou on the right bank of the Loire in the Maine-et-Loire department. The already from the Celts The eponymous community was founded by the Romans in 50 BC. BC after the soap herbs growing there called "Saponaria", from which the current name is derived. Right now Napoleon (1769-1821) the wine was famous, but was then sweetly developed. The vineyards cover around 140 hectares of vineyards in the three municipalities Bouchemaine, La Possonnières and Savennières. The pure variety Chenin Blanc dry-aged white wines give the slate and red sand floor a special character....
