1966 Hermitage AOC, Rhône, France

Very ripe nose, slightly oxidative with a touch of sherry, red berries, dried herbs and some wilted flowers, with aeration surprisingly also shows fresh herbs. Mature amd firm on the palate, tart virile style, earthy notes and some old oak, prominent mineral notes, fine, slightly astringent tannins, hint of sugar candy in the background, good depth, subtle complex character shown by mature first-class wines, long finish.
