2016 Pic Saint-Loup AOP La Ruche, Languedoc, France

Firm, slightly animalic nose, predominantly black berries and some cherries, earthy and tarry notes, suggestive mixed pickles, pepper, tobacco, meat and earth. Ripe, juicy, partly preserved fruit on the palate, nutty notes, cocoa and licorice, slightly herbaceous on the palate, quite full-bodied and warm, very fine tannins, sweetish and creamy, slightly jammy notes, tart spicy traces, very slightly astringent, some bitter notes in the background, good to very good finish.
