The municipality appellation for red and white wines is located in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune Burgundy, It covers around 325 hectares of vineyards in the two municipalities of Santenay and partly Remigny. It connects Chassagne-Montrachet on. Santenay is also a famous health resort with a saline mineral spring with the lithium-richest water in Europe. More than 95% red wines from Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Liébault are produced; the few white wines are made from Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc. The best prime cru locations are Beauregard (33 ha), Clos de Tavannes (26 ha), La Comme Dessous, La Maladière (13 ha) and Les Gravières (29 ha).
