The Greek winery "Domaine Spiropoulos" was founded in 1860. The vineyards with around 200 hectares are located at 650 meters above sea level on the plateau of Mantinia in the north of the island Peloponnese, It was in this place that viticulture was practiced in ancient times. This is proven by a solid marble wine container found in the winery cellar during restoration work with a capacity of over 1,000 liters, which is over 2,000 years old. At the beginning of the 1990s, the three brothers Nondas, Yannis and Robert reorganized the winery and are fully committed to organic cultivation in accordance with EU guidelines. There are the local grape varieties Agiorgitiko, Glikerithram, Lagorthi, Mavrudi and the Appellations Moschofilero, as well as international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. Worthy of mention are the OPAP white wine "Orino" (pure variety from Moschofilero) and the red country wine "Porfyros" (Agiorgitiko, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and aged up to 16 months in barriques).
