2013 Douro DOC Vale de Raposa, Grande Escolha, Douro, Portugal

Tart nose, partly candied black and red berries, notes of licorice, preserved cherries, dried vegetal notes, delicate bitter chocolaty and earthy notes. Tart, partly preserved canned dark fruit on the palate, dark chocolate, slightly dried vegetal notes, fine sandy, prominent, slightly astringent tannins, good persistence, noticeable alcohol, earthy in the background, hint of meaty, smoky nuances, a hint of mint, with aeration also marzipan, good to very good, bitter-awake and alcoholic finish.
