Editor note: Firm, fairly mature nose, light smoky oak, earthy notes, ripe, partly dried black berries, hint ofg tobacco, peppery traces, some dried herbs and mineral traces. Riper, partly dried and preserved sweetish, dark fruit on the palate, light nutty oak and some smoked bacon, peppery spice, hint of coffee in the background, integrated, sandy tannins, good substance and persistence, noticeable high alcohol, but well integrated, herbaceous traces in the background, some sugar candy and some depth, toasted notes very good finish with fairly sweet, preserved fruit.

The southern area of the Italian double region Trentino-Alto Adige; the northern one is South-Tirol (Alto Adige). It corresponds geographically to the province of Trento. It is according to 3,000-year-old archaeological finds to one of the oldest Italian wine-growing areas. The vineyards cover around 10,000 hectares on the edge of the Dolomites. They are located in the gritty alluvial plain of the Adige Valley and on the z. T. very steep slopes of the side valleys. Some communities on Lake Caldaro fall into the same DOC area (Lake Caldaro).
