The winery "FM Mayer Vitikultur" is located in the 19th district of Vienna Döbling (Austria). Franz-Michael Mayer comes from one of the most famous and oldest viticulture dynasties in Vienna. The Mayer family has been in viticulture and with the wine tavern since 1683 Mayer at Pfarrplatz known (was taken over by the Hans Schmid private foundation in 2007). After training at the Klosterneuburg Wine School he spent some time in German and Alsatian wine regions or companies. He then gathered practice in South Africa Nederburg as production manager for red wines and made study trips to South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. In 1999 Mayer returned to his roots in order to “bridge the gap between traditional methods of home in connection with innovative processes of new, foreign grape varieties.

The leased vineyards cover 2.38 hectares in the vineyards Fotzen, Langteufel, Prussia and Unger the best known Nußberg (Large location) within the wine-growing region Wien, Traditional grape varieties such as Chardonnay (around a third of which are Chardonnay clones from the Argentinean Mendoza), Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, but also the Sémillon variety, which is unusual for Austria, are cultivated. In the Langteufel and Fotzen vineyards, Grüner Veltliner, Weißburgunder, Neuburger, Roter Veltliner and Rotgipfler stand for the typical Viennese mixed sentence, The aim is to develop small quantities of creative wines in these top Viennese locations. These are from the "WIEN.Kult" line the mixed types and Pinot Blanc, in the innovation line of the "Sémio", furthermore the modern type Chardonnay under "Francisco Miguel", the "Platinum" Pinot Gris developed in the acacia barrel, as well as from the top Line (named after the Nussberg and Chardonnay clone from Mendoza) “Nußdoza”, which does not exist every year.
