2012 Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG, Umbria, Italy

light smoky oak on the nose, tarry traces, dried flowers, predominantly red and a few black berries, some pomegranate, candied nuts, licorice, dried herbs. Firm, ripe, fairly juicy fruit on the palate, prominent pomegranate, delicate herbaceous and flroal aromas, light toasted, spicy oak, some vanilla, very prominent but fairly fine and ripe tannins, persistent and concentrated, slightly noticeable warm alcohol, but well integrated, very full body, some depth, very good firm, juicy, slightly spicy, warm, grippy finish.
