2013 Barolo DOCG San Giovanni, Piedmont, Italy

Slightly dried-vegetal, earthy and leathery scent of mixed berries and also some cherries with slightly marzipan-spicy wooden aromas, a hint of cocoa, licorice and dried herbs. Tart, fairly polished, tart and juicy fruit, taut, compact and rather dark, vegetal to herbaceous traces, present, very fine tannins, good substance and persistence, lots of bite, earthy and woody notes, still young, very good, firm, again smooth, juicy and somewhat woody finish with earthy and slightly chocolate notes.
