2015 Barbera d'Alba DOC Vittoria, Piedmont, Italy

Clear, firm, tart and quite dense aroma of ripe black berries and some cherries with smoky and tobacco notes. Firm, somewhat developed, concentrated dark fruit, quite present, crumbly-sandy tannins and amazing bite, persistent on the palate, very well integrated smoky-roasted wood notes, certain depth, some herbal-vegetable spice, also hints of coffee and tar, restrained power, easily copes with the high alcohol, leather, soya and iodine in the background, very good, firm finish.

Editor note: Fragrance of black berries and cherries with nutty woody notes, some pepper and earthy and dried vegetable notes. Rather dark, partly preserved fruit, dried vegetal, earthy and nutty aromas, toasty woody notes, fine sandy, still slightly drying tannin and some bite, a lot of power, lasting, earthy and a little salty in the background, a hint of citrus zest, noticeable alcohol, which blends well with air, tightens, hinted at cocoa, very good, juicy and yet tart finish with chocolaty, earthy and vegetable tones as well as ever more distinct minerality and pepper Only on the second day does it show halfway what it can really do.
