2013 Barbaresco DOCG "Rocche Massalupo", Piedmont, Italy

Slightly withered floral scent, reminiscent of leaves and undergrowth, of red and a little black berries with earthy notes, hints of mushrooms and tobacco. Tart, rather firm fruit with cocoa and coffee spice, tobacco, some undergrowth and tar, certain acid bite, present, rather drying tannin, certain persistence, has power, good to very good, firm, but again a little drying finish. Has unfortunately already lost some of its freshness

Editor note: Nutty aroma of ripe, partly dried red berries and light cherries with earthy and rooty tones as well as some chocolate. Red, polished fruit in the mouth, light nutty and also a little chocolaty tones, on the palate again slightly earthy and rooty, a hint of iron, also a little salt, slightly drying, yet not too present tannin, a little dried pepper in the background, slightly noticeable alcohol, which however binds with air, gains juice, very good, a little melony finish with notes of marzipan
