The estate is located in the community Durbach (area Ortenau) in the German wine-growing region to bathe, Members of the since the 16th century at Osthausen Castle in neighboring Alsace resident Zorn family of Bulach had in Durbach already in 1180 a fief, in which from 1381 also viticulture was operated. Ernst Maximilian Freiherr Zorn von Bulach extended it in the 19th century as "Frhr. Wrath of Bulach Durbach "trading company and in 1830 introduced the White Sauvignon, which he received from his friend Marquis de Lur-Saluces, the owner of Château d'Yquem had received. In 1936, the business from the estate of Hugo Freiherr Zorn von Bulach went into the possession of his daughter Countess Wolff Metternich to the canal. Finally, it was acquired in 1994 by the entrepreneur Rüdiger Hurrle and today belongs to Gertraud Hurrle.

The vineyards cover 34 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Herrentisch (Lahr), as well Schlossberg (18 ha) and in sole ownership Castle Grohl (Durbach). They are the red varieties Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and the white varieties Klingelberger (Riesling), Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Clevner (Traminer), Scheurebe and Sauvignon Blanc planted. It is experimented with different forms of education. In addition to the Italian practiced for decades reversal education also comes the Australian Non-pruning-system (Non-cut) for use.

It is environmentally friendly, near-natural viticulture with permanent greening and integrated crop protection practiced. Through appropriate measures, the yield is limited to 40 to 60 hl / ha. The fermentation is initiated by means of selected pure culture yeasts. Depending on the desired type of wine, the wines are aged in steel tanks, oak barrels and barriques. In weather-appropriate years also noble sweet predicates are pressed to ice wines. It also produces fine brandies (yeast, pomace), sparkling wines and flaschenvergorene sect.
