The winery is located in the municipality Pauillac in the community appellation of the same name in Médoc ( Bordeaux ). The origin goes back to the 16th century, since then it was owned for a long time by the Lacoste family and their descendants. The part of the name Grand-Puy (Großer Berg) refers to a district. The château was built around 1850. In the Bordeaux classification 1855 it received fifth place (Cinquième Cru Classé). In 1932 it became the property of Raymond Dupin. After a few years of catastrophe and the Second World War (1939-1945), he sold the property in 1978 to François-Xavier Borie, who renovated the battered Château and made improvements in the cellar technology. The property has since been managed by François-Xavier Borie under the company name "Domaines François-Xavier Borie". The vineyards cover 45 hectares of vines with the Cabernet Sauvignon (75%), Merlot (20%) and Cabernet Franc (5%) are planted. The extremely long-lived red wine is aged for 18 to 20 months in one-third new barriques. The second wine is called "Lacoste-Borie".
