Editor note: Tart nose, black berries and a few cherries, nutty traces, hint of tobacco. Tart, dark fruit on the palate, youthful, fairly taut tannins, light acid bite, herbaceous traces, good persistence, peppery traces, nutty notes, still young, good to very good, tart, juicy finish.
Best to drink: 2020-2023+
DOC area for red wine in the Italian region Basilicata, The zone includes the municipalities of Aderenza, Banzi, Barile, Forenza, Genzano di Lucania, Ginestra, Lavello, Maschito, Melfi, Palazzo San Gervasio, Rapolla, Rionero in Vulture, Ripacandida and Venosa in the province of Potenza. The vineyards cover around 1,500 hectares of vineyards and are up to almost 700 meters above sea level on the slopes of the extinct volcano Monte Vulture, which has shaped the area excellently suited for viticulture. It is split up into around 1,000 small properties. Wine has been produced here since ancient times, which was served at the noble tables in the Middle Ages.
