Wine-growing region in the Slovenian winegrowing region Primorska; look there.
Synonym (also Rebula Bela, Zelena Rebula) for the grape variety Ribolla Gialla; look there.
The white grape comes from Slovenia, The name means "green" or "green" and is derived from the emerald color of the must. But it is a group of different grape varieties; the "true" Zelen could not yet be identified. There will be a genetic relationship with the variety Verduzzo Friulano from the Italian Friuli supposed, but what DNA standard not yet confirmed. The medium to late ripening vine produces white wines with spicy acidity and spicy herbal notes. It is located in the Vipava Valley (Wipptal) in the region Primorska cultivated. In 2010, however, no stock was reported (Kym Anderson ).

The white grape variety comes from border area Italy (Gorizia) - Slovenia (Goricia). Synonyms include Mattozza, Pinela, Pinella Bianca, Pinjela, Pinello, Pinola and Vipavka. It was already mentioned in 1324 in the "Catalogo delle varieta delle viti Regno Veneto". According to done in 2013 DNA analysis it is one of the many descendants of Gouais blanc (White Heunisch); the second parent is unknown. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see below molecular Genetics ). Maybe that is in the adjacent Slovenian region Primorska attached Pinela (Pinjela) identical.
