2015 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Gries Lagrein Riserva Select, Alto Adige, Italy

Light vegetal and earthy notes on the nose, partly preserved dark berries and cherries, dried floral traces, hint of bacon. Fairly tart fruit on the palate, prominent oak, sooty and toasted notes, fairly prominent astringent tannins, dried vegetal aromas, light peppery spice, good substance and persistence, still slightly brittle, salty notes and tobacco in the background, some more slightly bitter spicy oak on a good to very good finish. Needs some time to mature.
