The wines keep constant high level and are usually the best in their respective category in the area. Weaknesses, there is little, but can occur in difficult vintages. However, this must be balanced in good years with particularly compelling assortments so that an operation can hold the status. In most cases you can blindly buy.

Most of the vineyards date back to the 12th century monastic property, as the Cistercian here the famous monastery Eberbach founded. During the heyday of the abbey, their holdings covered nearly 10,000 hectares, stretching from Worms to Cologne. These included areas on the mountain road, which were farmed on a farm, the monastery Eberbach directly under management. In 1803 was under Napoleon (1769-1821) the monastery property secularized.
