The "Weingut & Hofbrennerei Hiestand" is located in the municipality of Guntersblum (Nierstein area) in the German wine-growing region Rheinhessen, In the turmoil of the Thirty Years' War, the Swiss-born family came to Rheinhessen, where they have been wine-growing for several generations. The family business is now owned by Erich and Berthilde Hiestand, son Gunther Hiestand is responsible for the basement. The vineyards cover eleven hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Born path, Iron Hand, Kreuzkapelle and Steinberg (Guntersblum), as well as Hammerstein Castle (Albig). They are planted with the white varieties Riesling, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Scheurebe and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as with the red varieties, Portugieser, Dornfelder and Schwarzriesling.

The wines are principally made with natural yeasts fermented spontaneously, The large product range includes the five classes of Zech wines, estate wines, site wines, predicate wines (up to dry berry selection and ice wine) and JJ-Line. The latter is a tribute to Julius-Jakob Hiestand, who already had his best wines at natural wine auctions in the 1920s with great success Mainz sold. Gunther Hiestand has been producing JJ wines since 1999. They reflect a traditional wine philosophy as in the time of Jukius-Jakob Hiestand. With the least possible technical effort and based on traditional processes, these wines are vinified from the best locations and grapes with optimal ripeness. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, brandies from various regional fruits (grape, yeast, elderberry, peach, wild plum, quince) and liqueurs are also produced.
