Lake Balaton in Hungary is the largest freshwater lake in Central Europe with 591 km², which is also called "the sea of Hungary". Already the Celts and Romans operated here at the turn of the century viticulture. The area is also considered one of the most scenic in Hungary. Especially the north shore with its sheltered position and excellent sunlight is ideal for viticulture. The great waters exercises a positive regulating influence on the climate out.
