Editor note: Deep gold to amber colour. Yellow spice on the nose, nutty notes, light dried floral notes, partly dried yellow fruit, hint of caramel and sugar candy, light yeasty notes, vegetal, earthy and mineral notes. Quite nutty again on the palate, buttery and yeasty notes, some caramel, touch of preserved yellow fruit, light hint of tobacco, fairly creamy, slightly noticeable warm alcohol, floral traces, sugar candy and mineral notes in the background, some spicy oak and cinnamon, quite full-bodied, gains depth and becomes firmer with aeration, integrated tannins provide grip, ripe, spicy fruit on a deep, very good long finish.
Best to drink: Mid-2017-2023+

The wine region is in the south Hungary close to the border too Croatia and is named after the city of the same name (until 1999 the area was called Villány-Siklós). The vineyards cover around 2,300 hectares of vineyards. Under a continental climate with Mediterranean influences, with long, hot summers and cold winters, the vines grow on soils that are mainly limestone and dolomite with loess and loam layers. Around the city of Villány it is mainly the red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Franc, Kékfrankos ( Blaufränkisch ), Kék Portugizi ( Blue Portuguese )...
