Editor note: Fairly warm nose, light animal notes, cedary traces, hint of tobacco, ripe, partly preserved black and a few red berries, spicy oak and earthy notes. Ripe, partly preserved, sweetish fruit on the palate, some smoky, cedary notes, touch of cocoa and cake spices, etheral notes, integrated tannins, good persistence, prominent warm alcohol, some sugar candy in the background, hint of tobacco, delicate bitter touch, slightly jammy on a very good, alcoholic finish.
Best to drink: To 2023+

Hungary has a very old wine culture, because wines from Sopron and Eger were already known in the 13th century. The Greeks started wine growing in Hungary from the southeast Danube and its tributary the Tisza upwards and the Romans from the west across the Pannonian Plain to Lake Balaton. Despite invasions of the Huns, Vandals, Goths, Tartars and Ottomans over many centuries, wine was always grown in this area.
