1999 Rech Herrenberg Spätburgunder Auslese trocken JS, Ahr, Germany

Brilliant, quite deep garnet red, slightly lighter at the rim. Intense, juicy nose of red berries with harmonious spicy and toasted oak. Full-bodied, quite juicy fruit, spicy oak, medium-grained tannins, firm structure, powerful, still a little drying on the palate, spicy notes on a long finish. Needs time.
