2000 Rech Herrenberg Frühburgunder Auslese trocken JS, Ahr, Germany

Lots of dark, toasted, spicy oak, but also some black berries and plums on the nose. Juicy fruit, still strongly dominated by tart, toasted wood, decidedly cool style, quite fine-grained, very slightly sandy tannins, very good persistence, lacks the sweet fruit of a good vintage, but still an attractive wine, quite a long finish. Needs some time to mature.
