2001 Ahrweiler Rosenthal Spätburgunder trocken JS, Ahr, Germany

Intense mineral nose, aromas of black berries, beetroot and black olives, with some cool, toasty, spicy oak in the background. Cool, firm and juicy fruit with toasty notes, very fine-grained tannins, lots of power and very attractive acidity, quite a compact style, straightforward, persistent on the palate, long finish.
