2011 Mayschoss Mönchberg Spätburgunder, Ahr, Germany

Woody, also slightly roasted and slightly dried mushroom nose with notes of red and slightly black berries, some tobacco and cocoa, as well as vegetal and earthy tones. Tart fruit on the palate, noticeable, slightly grainy oak and astringent tannins, good persistence and substance on the palate, smoky to greasy notes, good substance, very good, although slightly brittle finish.
