, The origin goes back to the "Quinta do Cruzeiro", founded in 1890, but viticulture in the family with interruptions but already operated for over 400 years. Until the middle of the 20th century, the company was constantly expanded and rebuilt and invested in the modernization of production facilities. In 2003 lawyer Julia Melo Kemper decided to revive the family's historic vineyards. With the support of well-known oenologists from the company Vines & Wines (Ing. João Paulo Gouveia), they were completely re-cultivated after extensive soil analyzes with regard to optimum grape varieties or documents and composting of the vineyards. This process lasted four years until the first harvest in 2007. The total property covers 55 hectares of land. Of these, 15 hectares are planted with the red varieties Alfrocheiro Preto, Jaén du Dão, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo) and Touriga Nacional, and with the white varieties Encruzado, Malvasia Fina and Verdelho.
