The traditional winery is located in the community Trier-Eitelsbach (Ruwer area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle, The naming Karthäusermönche received it in the year 1335 by the Elector Balduin of Luxembourg (1285-1354) as a gift and operated there in the Middle Ages agriculture and viticulture. In the course of secularization It first came into the possession of the French state in 1803 and was bought in 1811 by Valentin Leonardy. By marriage, it became property of the family Rautenstrauch and later the family Tyrell. Christoph Tyrell took over the operation in sixth generation in 1986 and laid with his administrator Ludwig Breiling the foundation stone for a resurgence. Today, the winery is owned by his cousin Albert Behler. The managing director is Julia Lübcke and cellar master Sascha Dannhäuser.

Karthäuserhof - winery with vineyards

The vineyards cover 19 hectares of vines in the sole ownership Eitelsbacher Karthäuserhofberg according to VDP classification model classified as VDP.Grosse Lage. They are mainly with the Riesling (almost 18 ha) and some Pinot Blanc ( Pinot Blanc ) planted. In order to ensure a sufficient supply of water and nutrients in dry years, manure, straw, bark mulch and chopped vine wood are applied in precisely calculated doses. The expansion of the wines takes place exclusively in steel tanks. All wines are always declassified so that they far exceed the legal minimum must weights of the respective quality levels.
