2011 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Lagrein Riserva Porphyr, Alto Adige, Italy

Deep and firm, polished, clean scent of partly preserved black berries and sour cherries with fine liquorice tones, fresh violets, fine tobacco and herbal nuances, Bündnerfleisch, pepper and certain minerality in the background. Very smooth in the mouth, juicy, tart and dark, some liquorice and dark chocolate, mountain herbs, spicy wood notes, very fine tannin and delicate bite, persistent and concentrated on the palate, with all its strength also cool, good depth, mineral in the background, complex, still very young but already well balanced, very good, fine juicy and chocolaty finish. A masterpiece; certainly the best Lagrein we could ever taste.
