2014 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Lagrein Riserva Porphyr, Alto Adige, Italy

Firm nose, blackberries and blueberries, dried herbs and a hint of tobacco, light smoked bacon, earthy and mineral notes. Firm and tart, very dark, polished fruit on the palate, hint of ashes, prominent dried herbs, particularly bay leaf, salty and earthy mineral notes, full-bodied and persistent, cool minty elements, still very young, some bite, firm, ripe, fine sandy tannins provide firm grip, hint of cocoa and coffee in the background, becomes more elegant with aerationhint of tobacco on a very good firm, tart, juicy, herbaceous and salty finish.
