The estate is located in the municipality of Kastelbell in the lower Vinschgau region in the Italian wine sector South-Tirol
(Region Trentino-Alto Adige
). It has been owned by the family since 1786, and since 1970 vines have been cultivated and wines produced in our own cellar. The company is run by Martin Paul Pohl. The vineyards cover 4.3 hectares of vineyards at 600 meters above sea level on the steep slopes of the Vinschgau sun mountain. They are planted with the red varieties Pinot Noir (70%) and some Cabernet Franc, as well as 30% with the white varieties Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Riesling. As for all cultivated fruits, the cultivation of the vineyards also follows KIP rules
(controlled, integrated production).
The vinification is as natural and gentle as possible. The white wines are made of stainless steel, the red wines mainly in large wooden barrels or in barriques. The product range includes various red and white DOC wines vinschgau
, Premium wines are Blauburgunder Fleck Riserva (24 months in barrique) and Gewürztraminer Spätlese (stainless steel). Around 24,000 bottles of wine are produced annually; Germany is the most important export country. Since 1992, our own distillery has been producing home-made brandies (apricot, plum, apple, pear) and grappa
generated. Asparagus is also grown. The winery is a member of Free wine growers in South Tyrol
and Vinschgau Wine Association.
