2001 Toscana IGT Il Baccanale, Tuscany, Italy

Animal notes and some tar, almost overripe berries on the nose. Spicy, but turning slightly sweet and very mature, sweet oak aromas have taken control, fruit in the background, not much substance, ripe tannins, acceptable to attractive finish. Becomes more harmonious with aeration, but remains dominated by oak.
