2005 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Blauburgunder, Alto Adige, Italy

Ripe, partly preserved red berries and some plums on the nose, smoky, light oak. Quite juicy on the palate, very slightly jammy red fruit, light smoky oak, some herbaceous annd light mineral notes, quite fine tannins, slightly astringent and dusty, good persistence, light malted notes, very slightly bitter and oaky on an otherwise good to very good finish. Becomes more harmonious with aeration.

Editor note: Tart preserved red berries on the nose, some black berries and soup greens, smoky and spicy oak. Quite juicy and fairly mature fruit on the palate, more spicy smoky oak, herbaceous notes, fine sandy and slightly astringent tannins, creamy, medium body, good persistence and has some depth, mineral notes and some smoky meat, good finish.
