2002 Rosso Piceno DOC "Nero di Vite", Marches, Italy

Delicately oxidative nose with preserved sour cherries and mixed berries, sweetish herbaceous notes, some oak and a hint of varnish. Slightly overripe fruit on the palate, prominent spicy oak and chocolate, astringent tannins, fairly loosely knit, creamy and high in alcohol, but not much real depth, malted notes, attractive finish.
