Classified as Cru (Top Appellation) area in the northern section of the Rhone on the right bank. It stretches for 50 kilometers from Condrieu in the north to Saint-Péray in the south. The vineyards cover about 900 hectares of vineyards in 26 municipalities in the two départements Ardèche and Loire. The center of Saint-Joseph is the town of Tournon, located on the banks of the Rhône opposite the Hermitage mountain. The wine was already appreciated by the French kings in the 16th century.
