2007 Barolo DOCG Sarmassa, Piedmont, Italy

Somewhat tobacco, nutty and also tarry scent of ripe black and red berries with wilt-floral aromas, liquorice and hints of juniper. A bit developed, tightly knit, ripe, somewhat warm, quite dark fruit, nutty and juniper tones, liquorice again, a bit of dark chocolate and pickled cherries in the background, present, crumbly tannins, persistent, quite complex, a lot of power and good depth, almost a bit sweet melting, very good, juicy and spicy finish with a touch of malt and pickled plums.
