Muscat de Rivesaltes The appellation is after the north of Perpignan lying small town Rivesaltes in the French region Roussillon (Northern Catalonia) named. The vineyards cover about 5,000 hectares of vineyards in 99 municipalities of the départements Pyrenees-Orientales and Aude in the double region Languedoc-Roussillon, The sometimes barren, calcareous soils produce low yields, but are not consistently uniform due to the size of the area. Only the two grape varieties are allowed Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains (here Muscat de Rivesaltes) and Muscat d'Alexandrie (here Muscat Romain).
