The estate is located in the municipality of Gratallops in the Spanish DOCa area Priorato (Catalonia). It was founded in 1989 by biology professor José Luis Pérez i Verdú. He worked as a young man in Switzerland as a hairdresser and taxi driver to finance his studies. Today he is full professor of oenology at the University of Tarragona, Pérez is considered the true founder of the great success in the field. He was the mentor and adviser to the other young winemakers who made a splash from the late 1980s. There were notable joint ventures with the two producers Cims de Porrera and Vall-Llach, In the Spanish gourmet magazine "Sibaritas" Pérez was chosen in 2005 for his life's work "hombre del año" (man of the year). Today, the farm Mas Martinet is run by his daughter Sara Pérez.

The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vineyards, which are managed according to the findings of the professor organic. It cultivates the ancient to over one hundred year old autochtonous varieties Carineña and Garnatxa, as well as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. By scientific methods, the optimal reading time is determined, whereby the manual reading takes place in several passes. About the vinification and the expansion of wines in the cellar, there is relatively little information. The wines are stored for two years in French oak barrels, are buffed with egg whites, but not filtered. The flagship of the house is the Priorato red wine "Clos Martinet", a cuvée of all the varieties listed above. The second wine is called "Martinet Bru". In small quantities are experimentally pure red wines with the technique of micro-oxygenation produced.
