2011 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC/DOP Riserva Villa Gemma, Abruzzi, Italy

Firm, smoky and slightly greasy-fleshy nose, dried and preserved black berries and sour cherries, light herbaceous, floral notes, some earthy notes and tobacco. Juicy, again fairly firm, surprisingly cool fruit for the high alcohol, notes of chocolate, herbs and a hint of citrus fruit, firm, fine-sandy tannins, light acid bite, persistent on the palate, herbs and spicy hints in the background, very slightly ethereal, powerful , still young, preserved fruit, chocolate, hint of coffee and some mint in a very good finish.
