2013 Barolo DOCG Castelletto, Piedmont, Italy

Firm, rather bitter scent of red and a little black berries with undergrowth and dried-mushroom aromas, some smoke, tobacco, spices and earthy notes. Quite a tart, firm fruit on the palate, with some spicy oak, tobacco notes, a little pepper and earthy to salty mineral notes, persistent and powerful, lots of touch, fine sandy tannins, still undeveloped, good depth, peppery notes in the background A hint of cocoa, a little dry herbs and cardamom, very good, juicy and spicy finish with notes reminiscent of soy sauce.
