2011 Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG Classico, Veneto, Italy

Firm nose, light sweet spicy notes, preserved and dried black berries and cherries, hint of licorice, dried herbs and tobacco. Concentrated and very full-bodied on the palate, tart dark fruit, tarry and smoky notes, hint of ashes and oak, Prominent fine sandy tannins, hint of bacon, herbaceous notes, persistent, good depth, noticeable alcohol, but also has cool mineral notes, firm grip, quite complex, salty notes, tart spice, very good, long, juicy, slightly sweetish finish.
