2016 Douro DOC "Batuta", Douro, Portugal

Deep, firm and polished, youthful, fresh and relatively cool nose of dark berries and cherries with herbal nuances, a hint of licorice and cocoa, herbal nuances and minerals. Clear, again very polished, elegantly juicy, yet firmly knitted fruit, very fine tannins and some bite, persistent on the palate, delicate herbaceous tones and again cocoa, hint of peppery and spicy, in the background clear mineral notes, a hint of tobacco, still very young, but indicates its depth, very good, firm, yet undeveloped, elegantly juicy and spicy finish. Seems almost deceptively accessible at first, but takes time.
