The big wine trading house ( Négociant Paul Jaboulet-Aîné in Tain-l'Hermitage at the Rhone was founded in 1834. By the end of 2005, it had been operated by three family members headed by Gérard Jaboulet. Then it was sold to a Swiss investor group. Therefore, the winery is also from the prestigious family winery association PFV (Primum Familiae Vini) excreted. The vineyards cover 80 hectares of vineyards. Wines from numerous Rhône appellations are produced. These are Beaumes-de-Venise. Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Condrieu. Cornas. Côte Rôtie. Côtes du Rhône. Crozes-Hermitage. Hermitage and Saint-Joseph, as well as various IGP wines such as Collines Rhônaniennes,

Vineyards of the Jaboulet-Aîné vineyard in Tain-l'Hermitage on the Rhône

The flagship of the house is the red Hermitage "La Chapelle" ( Syrah and up to 15% the white varieties Marsanne and Roussanne ) from around 40-year-old vines that can be stored for decades. A dozen bottles of vintage 1961 were at a auction in London in September 2007 by Christie's sold at £ 123,750 (over £ 10,000 or € 14,500 per bottle). He is one of the most expensive wines in the world, The white Hermitage is called "Le Chevalier de Sterimberg", the red Crozes Hermitage "Domaine de Thalabert" and the white Crozes Hermitage "Mule Blanche". Every year around 125,000 boxes of wine are produced, more than half are exported.
