The estate is located in the municipality of Mercatale Valdarno in the province of Arezzo in the Tuscany northeast of Siena. It was founded in the 1970s by German advertising manager Wolf D. Rogosky. The reason for this was the acquaintance with the agronomist Remigio Bordini, who had discovered and selected a red grape variety in an old vineyard. After the parenting she was called Caberlot ( Cabernet Franc x Merlot ) designated. Rogosky planted the vine on two acres with very dense plantings to the yield with a maximum of 30 hl / ha as low as possible. As a consultant acted the oenologist Dr. Vittorio Fiore. The management is carried out according to the rules of "Lutte Raisonnée" ( Integrated pest management ) without chemical agents or fertilization, Today the winery is run by Bettina and Moritz Rogosky; as cellar master, Peter Schilling is responsible.
The first Caberlot wine became long Barrique in French , Bottling without filtration as well as long bottle storage vinified before sale. A special feature is that the barrels are regularly rotated on special racks. The first year 1983 was marketed in 1988, aroused great attention by its abundance and concentration and became the cult wine, The monochrome label shows a bold black painted cross in the middle with a brush in order to recognize the wine from a distance. By the amount of black color the vintage character is shown: strong wines = a lot of color, more elegant wines = less color. The red wine "Il Caberlot" is exclusively in Magnum or double magnum bottles bottled and only per subscription sold in 3-piece wooden boxes (max 6 bottles per person). From younger vines is the earlier ready-to-drink "Il Carnasciale" pressed, the labels carry in contrast to the "big brother" a white cross.
