2001 Langhe DOC Bricco del Drago, Piedmont, Italy

Preserved, slightly tart black berries and cherries on the nose, delicate vegetal and lactic notes, tart dried herbsm hint of braised meat and earthy traces. Clear, firm, juicy fruit on the palate, moderate spicy oak, dark caramel and chocolate, some more well-done braised meat, fairly prominent and quite fine tannins, persistent, reined-in style, still quite youthful, harmonious, quite refreshing, good to very good finish.

Best to drink: Bis 2014+. What our ratings mean

Editor note: Aromas of wild berries, wilted flowers, some undergrowth and preserved cherries. Ripe, elegantly juicy fruit, which is quite firmly structured, fine tannins with good presence, a certain acidity, persistent on the palate, quite full-bodied, creamy, with sweetish spice, very well balanced, still yuite youthful, good finish.
