2013 Barolo DOCG Castelletto, Piedmont, Italy

Herbaceous nose, hint of onions, ripe, partly preserved red berries and some plums, leathery, light tarry and nutty aromas, hint of cocoa, licorice, wilted flowers. Ripe, fairly juicy, predominantly dark fruit on the palate, nutty oak, hint of ashes, fairly prominent fine sandy tannins, good substance and persistence, some cocoa, more licorice in the background, spicy traces, fairly creamy, ripe fruit, sweetish oak, slightly bitter ashes and earthy notes on a very good finish.
