2005 Barbaresco DOCG Bric Turot, Piedmont, Italy

Partly overripe, jammy red and black berries on the nose, light touch of cherries and plums, some malted notes, dried flowers, light spicy oak. Firm and juicy on the palate, concentrated, very ripe fruit, full-bodied and creamy, roasted, spicy oak, fairly prominent very fine and slightly astringent tannins, light acid bite, persistent and has some depth, very good finish.

Best to drink: 2011-2015+. What our ratings mean

Editor note: Red berries, some cherries and black berries on the nose, herbs and spices, light earthy and mineral notes, green tobacco and some oak. Clear, quite firm fruit on the palate, more herbaceous and earthy notes, light smoky oak, good persistence, very fine tannins, tart mineral notes in the background, has a light acid bite, medium depth, still youthful, very good finish.
