2006 Barolo DOCG Bussia, Piedmont, Italy

Developed, woody-spicy, slightly fleshy, iodised and quite clearly peppery-spicy aroma of partly preserved, predominantly black berries with tobacco, earthy notes, leather and tar. Ripe, quite juicy, dark fruit with some bitterish wood spice, nutty flavours and dark peppery-ethereal tones, a little liquorice and coffee on the palate, certain warmth, persistent, has power, crumbly-sandy tannin and certain warmth, tobacco, ashy and earthy notes, gains significant juiciness with air, very good, again also woody-spicy and ethereal finish.

Editor note: Fairly complex nose, red berries and some black berries, light earthy notes and a hint of tar, sweetish tart spic, mineral traces, spicy oak. Tart on the palate, slightly restrained fruit, light earthy notes and some oak, persistent and quite deep, medium-fine tannins evenly distributed, vegetal traces, quite firm, some more tarry notes and smok, acid bite, slightly astringent on a good to very good finish. Needs aeration.
