Winery Wines

2007 Barbera d'Asti Superiore Nizza DOC Costamiòle, Piedmont, Italy

Preserved red and black berries on the nose, dried prunes, malted notes, candied herbs and spices, some dark chocolate, prominent smoky, spicy oak. Very full-bodied, juicy on the palate, fairly prominent oak, sugar candy and chocolate, some licorice behind this, fairly prominent oak tannins, slightly sandy and astringent, good persistence, very creamy with a delicate acid bite, astringent roasted oak on an otherwise good to very good finish. Very modern style, at the price of being a little less typical.
