2007 Douro DOC VT'07, Douro, Portugal

A woody-spicy and tart nutty scent of ripe, partly preserved black berries and hinted cherries with notes reminiscent of soup herbs and floral hints. Ripe, tangy-juicy dark fruit, present, fine sandy tannin, some bitter chocolate and again hinted soup herbs, a hint of tar in the background, good substance and sustainability, has power, some salt in the background, spicy tones and hinted bacon, still relatively young, very slightly drying, very good, warm finish with ripe juice and chocolaty, also a trace of smoky wood. Has developed considerably better than expected
